Arizona State University has begun experimenting with a crowdsourcing platform that solicits charitable contributions to support specific student and faculty research projects. The new Arizona State offering runs on USEED, a higher education-specific application for helping students engage with alumni to support their projects. The Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development (OKED) at the university partnered with Arizona State's Foundation for a New American University, a separate nonprofit organization, in this effort to help it raise money for specific research initiatives.

Statistics suggest that more than half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online.  BullyBlocker is an app that catches concerning postings or photos on social media and assesses the likelihood that your child is, or will be cyber bullied.

Tara Tucker is an ASU student; she is also the mother of three young boys. Her interest in making the cyber world safer for adolescents motivated her to participate in the BullyBlocker project being led by Yasin Silva, an assistant professor in ASU’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.

There's been a lot of steam behind crowdfunding college kids and recent grads. Recently we’ve seen at least two startups--Pave and Upstart--launch platforms where investors can give money to promising, enterprising students in exchange for a cut of their future earnings.
