Making a Difference in Guatemala 2018

Our Mission

International Service Devils is a student run volunteering club dedicated to creating and building upon sustainable projects here in Arizona and around the world. We will be returning to Antigua, Guatemala this spring to the same school that we visited in 2017 and 2014. We are going to be building upon our past project of digging out the foundation for a new classroom. We also will be working on sustainable classroom improvements to ensure that students are learning in a healthy environment. Smaller projects will be student directed based on their interests and will include classroom style dental and hygiene units, painting, and horticulture. By making school a place that kids want to be, we are creating a lasting impact on the community.

About Us

We are Arizona State University students striving to build global relationships through service in underprivileged communities around the world. We want to enable students to transform society and the quality of life in both our communities that we live in and those we visit outside the United States. Through cultural immersion and a willingness to lend a helping hand, we believe our members gain lifetime experiences to grow in both their academic and personal development.

Our Journey

We have grown a lot since being founded in 2012. In 2013 we sent our first group of volunteers to Costa Rica where they built retaining walls out of eco-bricks to save rural roads from being washed away by flood waters during monsoon season. Since then we have not only returned to Costa Rica, but have also sent ASU volunteers to Guatemala, India, Vietnam, and Thailand. In Guatemala, we worked at a local elementary school laying a concrete foundation for a future playground, repainting the entire school, and dug out the foundation for a new classroom.  In India, ISD members worked at a rural elementary school implementing teaching techniques to improve the way math and English are taught. We established a program in Vietnam where we aided in an HIV orphanage as well as built a soccer field at a Buddhist Pagoda. In Thailand we worked on school improvements to ensure a special needs school received funding for future years.

We thank you for your support!
