Support Underwater Robotics at Arizona State!

Who is ASUR?

Underwater Robotics at Arizona State (ASUR) is a competitive underwater robotics team comprised of undergraduate and graduate students. Since starting in 2008 under the name NASA Space Grant Robotics, ASUR has gone from strapping components to a milk crate to designing complex robots requiring CNC machining, complex circuitry, and complicated programming.  Over the years, ASUR has never stopped growing and evolving.  Every year, we design and build a new underwater robot, giving our team of students hands-on experience that will help them in industry.  We value the diversity and professional and technical development of our team members and are passionate about inspiring K-12 students to get involved in STEM through outreach.

This year, ASUR plans to participate in the international competition RoboSub AUVSI. This competition is held every summer in San Diego, California, and participants are required to build a fully autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that is designed to complete various tasks. Some of these tasks may include autonomously - locating objects in the pool, picking up and placing markers, and accurately passing torpedoes through designated rings.

How can you help?

In order to compete at RoboSub this year, we are hoping to raise funds both to attend the competition as well as to purchase advanced sensors and components that will give us an advantage as competitors.  One specific piece of equipment we are seeking to purchase is a Doppler Velocity Log or a DVL.  Having a DVL will allow us to know where our robot is in the water at all times. This knowledge is crucial to the competition. By supporting this project, you will help our students make the journey to the competition, provide them with the tools they need to do well, and aid them in gaining hands-on experience in robotics in a collaborative, competitive setting.

As a sponsor, you have the opportunity to:

  • Provide advice and potential suggestions on our project
  • Gain access to resumes of highly-qualified students
  • Market your company on our AUV and merchandise at an international event

We hope that you will consider supporting Underwater Robotics at Arizona State's project and cause. Thank you for your help,

ASUR
