The annual Intercollegiate Racquetball Championships was held in Raleigh, North Carolina and our men's team fought for a 4th place finish! Unfortunately, we did not have enough funds to send a full women's team to the tournament this year despite their consistent top-5 ranking. With your help and this campaign, we will be able to secure finances and avoid this type of disappointment in the future.
Despite not being able to offer scholarships like some other schools, the ASU Racquetball team finishes consistently in the top 10 in the nation. We have worked diligently to raise funds on our own, but with travel, uniforms, hotel expenses and entry fees, we are seeking assistance to reach our goal to offset a majority of the costs involved in this endeavor and add more tournaments to our training schedule.
The Men’s team proved our status as a legitimate top 5 contender this season, and the Women’s team has not finished outside the top 5 in the nation in the past 6 years. We have amassed many accolades, including over a dozen Collegiate All Americans and a Women’s National Championship in 2007. We are proud of our legacy and wish to continue the tradition of representing ASU in regional and national events.
We have the great privilege to have a volunteer coach who was a top 20 ranked player on the International Racquetball Tour who has worked with the team for the past seven years. His guidance extends beyond the court, teaching us important life skills and comradery through the sport of racquetball.
Our team atmosphere fosters a culture of support, competition, and teamwork. Together we know that we as individuals are responsible for ourselves and our actions, and collectively we achieve more. We take seriously the responsibility of representing ASU on a national level, and conduct ourselves with pride and integrity both on the practice court and in competition.
Thank you so much for your support of Sun Devil Racquetball, we hope to see you on the court! Like us on Facebook for team updates: Facebook.com/ASURacquetball
