ASU Law Moot Court Travel

The ASU Law Moot Court board believes that practice makes perfect. That’s why every year we send teams of ASU law students to compete in oral advocacy competitions across the nation – and the globe. These competitions allow students to develop critical courtroom and brief writing skills, as well as build relationships across a broader legal community. They also give students a chance to deepen their understanding of a particular area of law and distinguish themselves—and ASU law—in that field.

Competitions we send students to include:

· National Veteran’s Law Moot Court Competition - Washington, D.C. ·Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot - Vienna, Austria and Hong Kong · ABA National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition – Chicago, Ill · The Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition – New York · National Native American Law Students Association Moot Court Competition – Los Angeles, CA · Law Student National Representation in Mediation Competition – San Francisco, CA

What we need

Unfortunately, the cost of travel expenses often prevents students from participating in competitions. While the Moot Court Board always pays for the steep registration costs of these competitions, there simply isn’t enough in our budget to pay for students’ travel costs, too. Students who want to participate in these moot court competitions are left to find their own funding. If funding cannot be secured, the students are personally responsible for their own costs of transportation, lodging, food and other incidentals. For the vast majority of law students who depend on financial aid, this risk is too steep. As a result, students do not compete.

A little goes a long way

You can help by contributing a charitable gift to the Moot Court Travel Fund. For the cost of a cup of coffee, you can help provide a better educational experience to ASU law students who can’t afford to participate in moot court competitions that require travel. We’ve created this fund to allow those who care about ASU law students to lend a hand without taking too much time out of your busy schedule.

Thank you for our support of the next generation of legal professionals!
