Impact the Future of Arizona Dance

A big thanks to all of our donors who helped us raise 127% of our goal! With the funds raised, we were able to provide scholarships to rising artists. If you would still like to contribute to the Dance Undergraduate Organizational Support, gifts can now be made here: http://www.asufoundation.org/duos

Why it matters:

In addition to the immediate impact of receiving grant funds, the process of applying for the Student Development Grant has long-term benefits to students.

The application process reflects the experience of applying for funds in the professional artistic world. Funding for the arts is competitive, and we are giving students valuable experience that prepares them to finance their artistic passions. The process of applying for a grant requires students to articulate who they are as an artist, why their work matters, and why others should invest in them.

Funds from the grant may be used to support:

new and original student work

attendance at dance conferences or festivals

study abroad programs

collaborations with professional artists

senior capstones and thesis projects

socially engaged partnerships and community outreach

Who we are:

We are dancers, artists, teachers, and leaders.

Dance Undergraduate Organizational Support (DUOS) is a student organization created to promote and support the interests of dance and dance education majors pursuing their undergraduate degree in the ASU School of Film, Dance, and Theatre.

In 2015, we saw an opportunity to help students dream bigger: to expand the work they create and chase experiences they may not have thought possible. This is where the Student Development Grant was born.

In just over a year of operation, we have funded:

Brandon Trieu: Study abroad at the University of Roehampton in London

Kayla Tomooka: "Haweo," an evening-length work for her senior capstone project

Jasmine Benton: Collaboration with local musician Austen Mack for her senior Transitions solo

Gina Jurek: Original costumes for "Sex and the Whole Person," a project investigating sexuality and identity

Casey LeBlanc: Costume design for her senior capstone project, "Til Death," a piece exploring marriage and divorce

With your support, we can:

EXPAND the impact of dance in the ASU and greater community

INVEST in future dance leaders

GROW the grant program for years to come
