Inspire Change in Your Community
Though this campaign is complete, you can still join the team and make a difference by contributing here:http://asufoundation.org/NLA. According to a 2011 study by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA), there is a significant leadership gap in current and prospective nonprofit employees. This has had a major impact on not only nonprofits themselves, but also the communities they serve. The NLA strives to address this gap by preparing students to fill the roles of today and tomorrow's nonprofit sector needs. The mission of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance is to strengthen the social sector with a talented and prepared workforce.
What is the NLASA?
The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Student Association (NLASA) is a group of students actively pursuing their Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) certification, formerly known as American Humanics. The CNP is a nationally recognized academic program sponsored by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Students who graduate as Certified Nonprofit Professionals demonstrate a mastery in the marketing, management, & development of nonprofits and represent the top tier of nonprofit professionals.
The NLASA aims to:
Provide its members with tools that would enable them to attain managerial and executive positions in the nonprofit sphere. Present opportunities to actively address real world issues facing nonprofit organizations through case studies and group collaboration. Facilitate the creation of lasting relationships with nonprofit organizations, peers, and leaders. Alumni from the ASU Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Student Association currently hold positions at organizations such as: Make A Wish, Boy Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Club, Iron Man, the YMCA, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Special Olympics, Best Buddies, and Foundations of various educational institutions.
What is AMI?
The Alliance Management Institute (AMI) is the largest national conference designed to prepare college students for a career in the the nonprofit field. The conference serves as a capstone experience for individuals receiving the CNP and is attended by upperclassmen, graduate students, and professionals dedicated to building and improving the future of nonprofit organizations. Inspire Change in Your Community by Investing in Nonprofit Students today!
Attending AMI is a learning experience that begins long before the conference starts. Aspiring Certified Nonprofit Professionals (CNPs) actively participate in a fundraising campaign to attend AMI, using knowledge and skills attained from their coursework. This year, 19 students will attend AMI 2016 in Houston, Texas from January 3 – 5. The cost of attendance is $1,600 person student, resulting in a goal of $30,000 for this year’s campaign.
