What is the SOPHE Case Study Competition?
The Society of Public Health Education (SOPHE) Case Study Competition is an annual competition that gives undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to display their expertise. Teams of two to three students are challenged to solve a real-world health issue using the competencies or a school or community health educator. Our ASU team will be one of twelve undergraduate teams selected to compete this year!
Why are we going to the Case Study Competition?
The SOPHE Case Study Competition is an invaluable opportunity for the Health Education and Health Promotion Student Organization members. Competing in the Case Study Competition will help highlight ASU, the quality of our programs, and the excellence of our students. Members from our organization have prepared for this competition, and sharpened our skill set, by completing previous years' case study challenges as practice. Now, it is our time to represent ASU and the College of Health Solutions at the Society of Public Health Education Case Study Competition!
Since the Case Study Competition is held in conjunction with the SOPHE Annual Conference, student competitors will be attending the SOPHE conference as well. The SOPHE conference provides valuable experience for future health educators by adding depth and breadth to their learning about best practices and emerging focal points in the field, as well as offering an opportunity for networking and interacting with health education professionals.
Why do we need your help?
We have combined our personal funds with funding available from the ASU student government ($900) for a total of $1,900. The cost for our team of two to compete in the SOPHE Case Study Competition will be $2,900, so we need your help! Funds will help our team purchase flights to Ohio, hotel fare, transportation, conference registration, and meals. Many hands make light work, so we appreciate any amount of money you are able to donate. If 50 people donate $20, we will reach our fundraising goal of $1,000. We are grateful for your support of the Health Education and Health Promotion Student Organization at ASU!
