Help Lessen the Stigma of Incarceration

Arizona ranks as the 4th highest incarceration state (Casey, 2017), with one in nine children in Arizona having one or both of their parents incarcerated.  Parental incarceration is one of the ten ACEs listed by the CDC  to adversely impact a child's socio-emotional development. 

ASU Center for Child Well-Being has  compiled a book list containing fiction books featuring justice-impacted children.  Libraries and schools in rural areas lack funds to purchase these books, and we need your help getting these books in the hands of those who need them most.

How can you help? 

1. Whether or not you and your children are justice-impacted,  read through the book list with your child.  We can decrease the stigma of incarceration through empathy.
2. Spread the word!  Encourage others to read books from this list, or encourage others to donate.
3. Share these lists with your schools and libraries, and let them know featuring these books are important to your community
4. Help us put these books in the hands of those who need them most.  Consider donating below, so that we can purchase these books for the neediest communities.
