Help us get to the festival!

The Trombone Choir at ASU has been invited to perform at the 2023 International Trombone Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.  This invitation came through a competitive application process in which we submitted a recording for adjudication. We are excited about this opportunity and are excited about the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event. This fundraising project will help defray the expenses of our trip including the festival fee, lodging, and transportation. Being able to participate in an event of this magnitude is a unique opportunity that, for many students, won’t be available again.

What is the Trombone Choir?

The Trombone Choir is a music ensemble at ASU in which students of all majors and backgrounds can come together and enjoy making music together. All of our 18 members participate in weekly rehearsals, and performances throughout the semester. We are honored to receive an invitation to perform at this year’s International Trombone Festival, and excited to share the ITF experience with all of our members.

Why do we do what we do?

We are committed to creating a space where trombonists of all backgrounds at ASU can continue their music education and grow as trombonists at the University level. Our organization helps create a bridge between music majors, and all of the other majors at ASU through an accessible rehearsal and performance schedule, this helps ensure that any trombonist who would like to perform has the opportunity to. We strive to foster an environment of friendship and growth in order to spread music and create a community within the medium of music making.

What is ITF?

The International Trombone Festival is an annual multi-day event featuring all things trombone. Artists, teachers, students, professionals, industry leaders, and hobbyists gather to celebrate and explore the many facets and styles of trombone playing, teaching, and craftsmanship. Annual ITF programming includes diverse performers. Featured Artists are invited to perform, and they represent the pinnacle of trombone artistry and teaching. Several other performances are given by student ensembles who apply to perform through a competitive process.

Why should you support our campaign?

Our ensemble has worked incredibly hard to obtain an invitation to play at such a prestigious event. Our members devote their personal time to practice parts on their own, as well as giving up part of their time for rehearsals as well. Unfortunately, the cost for a trip to this conference is high, so any support will help our members be able to attend and play at this festival.
