We are building, studying, and deploying DIY portable air cleaners to communities in need throughout Arizona! We collaborate with school and community partners to increase awareness about the importance of indoor air quality and help every classroom have access to a portable air cleaner to remove airborne viruses, wildfire smoke, allergens, and air pollution.
Investments in air filtration and ventilation can reduce student absences due to illness – both during a pandemic and in more normal times. Improving air quality has demonstrated benefits: it reduces the risk of respiratory diseases, leads to fewer missed school days, improves concentration, and supports better overall health outcomes. All students and staff can benefit from cleaner indoor air.
The team of students and community volunteers have been building DIY air filtration units, called Corsi-Rosenthal boxes (CR box), for local Arizona schools to improve indoor air quality and reduce exposure to virus particles by increasing indoor air filtration and ventilation. C-R boxes have been shown to work as effectively as portable HEPA filters at a fraction of the cost.
Our team has deployed more than 400 CR boxes to over 200 schools in more than 20 cities across Arizona.
Your donation will be used to purchase supplies to help schools in need across Arizona participate in a hands-on STEM project that benefits public health.
Thank you for bringing cleaner air to Arizona classrooms!
