Dean’s Scholarship at Thunderbird

A tribute to a remarkable time for Thunderbird

Support a legacy, support a future!

The last six years have represented a transformative era for our school. This is in no small part due to the vision and dedication of Dean Sanjeev Khagram’s leadership, and as we look towards the next era for Thunderbird, we have been considering an appropriate way to honor his vision, effort, and success realized over this past six years.

As alumni, there seemed no better way to mark these achievements than by supporting future generations of students who can benefit from the foundations laid over the last six years.  Therefore, to honor Dean Khagram as he comes to the end of his tenure at Thunderbird, we are announcing the launch of a fundraising effort, to create the Dean’s Scholarship at Thunderbird.

This fund will be a lasting testament to the successes of his time as Dean, and one that will enable Thunderbird to continue to attract the very brightest students long into the future.

Please join us in securing the future spirit and success of Thunderbird and in honoring Dean Khagram’s legacy by making your donation today.

Please note that a donation of $1,000 or more will automatically recognize you in our 1946 Circle.

To donate by check, please send the check to:

All funds will be deposited with the ASU Foundation for A New American University, a nonprofit organization that exists to support Arizona State University (ASU).  Gifts in support of ASU are subject to foundation policies and fees.  Due to the fair market value of benefits received, only payments in excess of fair market value may be considered a charitable contribution.  Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions

This scholarship will be established as an annual award; however, in the event the gifts or pledges received reach $50,000 by December 31, 2029, the scholarship will be converted to an endowment to provide scholarships in perpetuity. Your gift may be considered a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions.

Endowment Frequently Asked Questions

What is an endowment?

  • An endowment is a permanent gift that is invested for the long term to provide sustainable financial support for Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. The gifted funds yield investment returns based on global market conditions and provide an annual payout, which is determined by the investment committee, to support the donor’s designated use.

How your endowment works

  • An endowment is a gift of assets that is strategically converted by the ASU Foundation Endowment Fund into long-term investments to provide sustainable, long-term financial support.
  • Each year a portion of the market value from your endowment is transferred into a spending account, making it available to the university beneficiary you designate.
  • Only the earned returns on your endowment are spent; the principal remains intact, yielding benefits to the university in perpetuity.
  • Endowment donors receive personalized reports on their investments each year, describing the financial performance of their gift, how their endowment enhances the foundation’s investments and how their gift continues to make a difference at Thunderbird.

Is there a minimum gift size required to create an endowment?

  • A general endowment can be established with a minimum gift of $50,000.

Once established, may I continue to contribute to my endowment?

  • Absolutely. You or others may continue to support your endowment through additional contributions.
