Colorado Alumni Chapter Scholarship

Sophia Cardinale is the recipient of this year’s ASU Alumni Colorado Scholarship. As an out-of-state student, Sophia is grateful for her awarded scholarship funds, as they help alleviate the financial burdens of tuition and travel expenses. 

“It's important to me that I stay connected and close with my family and those that I love most, so this money will allow me to visit my family back in Colorado during both Thanksgiving and winter break,” Sophia said.

As a first-year student, Sophia is ready to take part in the excitement of ASU and its many traditions. 

“I plan to attend many ASU games and events wearing my Sun Devil gear, supporting and cheering on our teams,” said Sophia. 

Having visited Arizona while she was growing up, this Sun Devil immediately knew that she wanted to make ASU her alma mater.

“Choosing ASU was an easy decision for me…when I first visited the Tempe campus, I met some incredibly warm and welcoming students and knew right away I could thrive there,” Sophia said. 

Alongside ASU’s well-developed community, Sophia was impressed by the university’s culture, prestigious business school, numerous opportunities for student engagement and campus diversity. 

While at ASU, Sophia hopes to maintain a high GPA, create strong connections with her peers and professors and challenge herself both socially and academically. She aspires to keep an open mind when it comes to learning different ideas and welcoming new experiences. 

“I intend to stay on top of my academics and create healthy and strong relationships, building life-long friendships and networks…I believe this will serve me well in whatever I choose to pursue professionally and in life,” she said.

In her free time, Sophia enjoys listening to music, traveling, dancing, hiking and spending time with her friends and family.
