George Sanner is one of 66,000 students around the globe studying in ASU’s online program, which provides access to a world-class university education no matter where you live. The biochemistry major received the ASU Alumni Association South Carolina Chapter scholarship to help him pursue his passion through higher education.
“I am self-supporting and am on disability,” he said. “So having the extra money allows me to not have to pay as much out of pocket and makes my situation less stressful, allowing me to focus more on my studies.”
The South Carolina resident says he chose ASU because of the degree programs offered and the quality of the education to help him meet his educational and career goals.
“My academic goal is to enter a master's degree program and get involved in some sort of research involving biochemistry with special interest in novel compounds that have medicinal benefit,” Sanner said. “Since I have a spinal cord injury I will be attempting to look for work that strives to treat complications revolving around that diagnosis.”
ASU students use life experiences, circumstances and personal passion to learn about complex things to better understand them. Once they master these understandings, it has the powerful potential to help them develop new research, new concepts, new techniques, new equipment or new products to positively impact their communities. It is what ASU and its talented students do best.
