Jack Footer is a first-year ASU student at the Cronkite school on the Downtown Phoenix campus. The Sports Journalism major from Park City received the ASU Alumni Association Utah Chapter scholarship to help launch his Sun Devil career.
He believes the scholarship shows people are appreciative of what it means to be a Sun Devil and supports his campus involvement and career choice.
“I chose Arizona State because sports journalism is such a specific major and specifically the aspect of journalism I want to do,” he said.
In his second semester, Footer is broadcasting ASU games for Blaze Radio on campus and broadcasting club sports action for the student-operated Inferno TV.
The practice and reps are preparing him for his career. “My goal one day is to become a sports broadcaster for major networks, or do journalism for a major sports organization or company,” Footer said.
