Devils Pitching In

Who We Are

Devils Pitching In is a student-led organization within Arizona State University dedicated to promoting civic duty, social responsibility, and cultural immersion among college students through community service.

Although we have only been around for less than three years, we have been able to organize four alternative break trips internationally and domestically, host two Special Olympics, and attend more than sixty-three service Saturdays around Arizona. All of our members are passionate about service and have been able to give back to hundreds of people all over the world.

Even though our goal is for students to have the opportunity to give back to the community, we have also helped students find their niche through our service events, which addresses the local priorities of the local community such as education, disaster relief, sustainability, hunger, poverty, etc.

What We Are Doing

Every Saturday, Devils Pitching In works with other community agencies around the area to provide for different causes. This ranges from painting houses for retired veterans, cleaning up litter at reservations, organizing medical supplies as well as packing food to provide help for third world countries among other things. This year alone, we have made a positive impact on thousands of people and we are planning on helping more.

In addition to service Saturdays, we also conduct a fall service break opportunity for our student members in preserving the Grand Canyon. Our service involves picking up litter in order to protect the wildlife living there and keeping the park as beautiful as ever. This is a great way to conserve and create a lasting impact in one of the Wonders of the World and it allows our volunteers to visit the park and take in the unique surroundings around them. With our recent visit at the Grand Canyon, we have contributed 99 overall hours at the site.

While we strive to work with other non-profit organizations and government entities, we are solely responsible in hosting the Special Olympics at Arizona State University. With 100 participants and 100 volunteers, we are uniting people of different backgrounds and abilities through the power of sports and raising the awareness to fight the injustice and social isolation happening currently around the world. By conducting this event, we are empowering people with intellectual disability to realize their potential, strength, and courage while meeting new people and creating lasting friendships.

Our biggest service event occurs during Spring Break, where we will be going on a trip internationally and domestically. Devils Pitching In has partnered up with Outreach 360 to provide educational opportunities for students who feel limited in continuing their education due to financial difficulties. This year, we will be going to the Dominican Republic to teach students how to speak English in hopes that they use it to achieve their dreams of continuing their education. For the past 2 years, we have made an impact on these students by transforming their lives and giving them the power of choice. Domestically, we will be going to Washington D.C. and will be volunteering at a food bank, soup kitchen, and packing emergency kits for all homeless individuals in the area so that we can contribute to the fight against hunger and homeslessness.

How You Can Help

By supporting our cause you will be able to transform the lives of both our volunteers and the people we will be helping internationally.

Many of our volunteer members are very passionate about service. Instead of taking a vacation, these students are dedicating their time to help others live a better life. However, they will not be able to afford the travel costs associated with the Spring Break Trips. With your support, our volunteers will be able to give back to the community all over the world.

Proceeds will cover transportation costs, lodging, food and drinks, and airfare tickets. We thank you so much for your help.
